Longwood MRI

ABOUT US

Jasmine Vartikar MD (President) received her MD at the University of Pittsburgh. She took her internship at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and came to Boston for her residency in anesthesiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by fellowships in obstetrical anesthesia and regional anesthesia. She was chief of anesthesiology at St. Margaret’s Hospital, and when that hospital closed, she established and operated a successful anesthesiology practice at Norwood Hospital for seven years. Dr. Vartikar single-handedly brought the anesthesia department at Caritas Norwood Hospital to its current state as one of the most respected and sought after anesthesia groups in the state. With her previous success in managing a medical business, she turned her sights toward radiology. She and her husband, Dr. Richard B. Schwartz, established Longwood MRI Specialists, the region’s premier radiology site.

Richard B. Schwartz MD PhD (Medical Director) has been a radiologist in the Longwood medical area for more than 20 years. He received his MD and PhD (in neuroanatomy) at the University of Pennsylvania. He trained in neuropathology at Tufts New England Medical Center, and took his residency in radiology and a fellowship in neuroradiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He served as the Assistant Director of Neuroradiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and he is presently Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Schwartz has authored more than 100 articles, book chapters, and proceedings on a variety of subjects, and he is an internationally respected academician who has been invited to lecture widely in the United States as well as in Europe and Asia. He has taught hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows, and staff members over his two decades at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has given dozens of presentations to radiologists, internists and surgeons. He has been interviewed in the Boston Globe and was featured on The Body Human 2000, a television special on medical advances in the 21st century.

Dr. Schwartz is available on-site to provide readings and answer any questions. Other excellent radiologists from the Harvard medical system with whom Dr. Schwartz has worked and established trusting relationships are called upon to add their subspecialty expertise on challenging cases.
